Question Summary:
Surgery and braces

Question Detail:

my question is slightly akward and I have had serious concern of this matter for a while, I have a significant underbite(bottom jaw is in front of top jaw), I have visted the dentist in the past and they have offered surgery as they say braces alone cannot correct it. I don't have any problems eating or speaking it only appears different to a normal jaw, I would like to know is surgery allowed and are braces allowed.

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It is permissible for you to have surgery and braces to straighten and repair your jaw[1].
