Signatory of a Muslim for a church

Question Detail:

assalaamualaykum
respected mufti saheb
the building next to a muslims house has been sold to christians, they want to open a church there and by law they require a signature from the muslim,  is it permissible for the muslim to  sign for the opening of the church?

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
If the neighbour is required by law or compelled to sign a no objection document for opening a church, he will be excused for doing so.¹
