I was wondering what is the best thing to do with your first salary; do you give it all to your parents or give it all to charity?
What is more beneficial?

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
 
You may give your first salary as charity to your parents. You will get the reward of charity and the reward of maintaining ties. This attitude of yours will yield Barakah in your life. Consider the following Ahādīth,
الصَّدَقَةُ عَلَى الْمِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ، وَهِيَ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ اثْنَتَانِ: صِلَةٌ، وَصَدَقَةٌ
Charity given to the poor is one and charity given to a relative is twofold, maintaining ties and charity.[1]
إِنَّ أَوْلَادَكُمْ مِنْ أَطْيَبِ كَسْبِكُمْ، فَكُلُوا مِنْ كَسْبِ أَوْلَادِكُمْ
Verily, your children are form the best form of your earnings. Hence, take from the earnings of your children.[2] 
 
مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يُبْسَطَ لَهُ فِي رِزْقِهِ، أَوْ يُنْسَأَ لَهُ فِي أَثَرِهِ، فَلْيَصِلْ رَحِمَهُ
Whoever likes to have increase in his sustenance and to live long, should maintain ties with his relatives[3]
