Seeing a deceased person in a dream weeping. What does it mean?

Question Detail:

I saw in dream just after fajir prayer. I saw “my mom ( she dies in 2012) is weeping. I asked her what happened. She showed me a pimple close to her mouth and said what can i do if something so close is in pain.” Can u please explain what it means. I got really worried snd did sadka in morning.

Answer :

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

We pray that Allaah Ta’aala showers upon your mother from His infinite mercy and grace. May Allaah Ta’aala grant her Jannatul Firdaws. Aameen.

The dream in the query may refer to your mother requesting you to do eesaal thawaab. You did the correct thing in giving sadaqah and sending the rewards to your mother. You should continue doing good deeds and sending them to her. Rasulullaah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said,

إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاث: صدقة جارية، وعلم ينتفع به، وولد صالح يدعو له^[1]

Translation: “When a person passes away, all his actions come to an end save three: sadaqah jariyah, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for him.” (Tirmidhi 1376)

You should strive to be that righteous child mentioned in the above Hadith and be a means of benefit for your mother.

Also, seeing a deceased person in one’s dream is a reminder of death. One should prepare for death prior to it coming to him.
