Answer :

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh
1) At the outset, we advise you to control your anger.
Imam Bukhari (r.a) narrates on the authority of Abu Huraira (r.a): “A person once asked Nabi صلى الله عليه و سلم for some important advice. Nabi صلى الله عليه و سلم replied do not become angry. The person repeated his question several times and each time Nabi صلى الله عليه و سلم replied do not become angry”
When a person is overtaken by anger, shaitaan takes control over him thus causing him to do such actions and say such things which he’ll regret about later on. Nabi صلى الله عليه و سلم has thought us how to combat anger.
Nabi صلى الله عليه و سلم advised that one should recite ta’awwuz (seek refuge in Allah Ta’ala) when overtaken by anger. Nabi صلى الله عليه و سلم also advised that if a person becomes angry whilst standing then he should sit down, if his anger goes away then well and good and if not then he should lie down. Yet in another narration Nabi صلى الله عليه و سلم advised that a person should make wudhu (ablution) (Abu Dawood 2-303 Saeed)
Many virtues have been mentioned in the hadeeth for the one who controls his anger. Consider the following hadeeth:

“He who controls his anger despite having the ability to vent it Allah Ta’ala will call him on the day of judgment in front of the whole of the creation and let him choose whichever damsel of paradise he wish” (Tirmizi 2-22 &Abu Dawood 2-303 Saeed)

If a person says “throw the Quraan”intending to belittle the Quraan then this is kufr.
It appears from your question that you did not make this statement to belittle the Quraan. You made the statement in anger. However it is necessary that you repent for having made such a statement.
Allah Ta’ala is Most Merciful. Whenever any person commits a sin Allah Ta’ala loves to forgive him.
Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم explains in the above narration: “When a person repents to Allah Ta’ala, Allah Ta’ala becomes happier then a person who is travelling through the desert. His camel upon which he has all his provisions gets lost. Becoming despond of finding it he lies down under a tree and waits for death to inevitably overtake him. Sleep overtakes him and when he wakes up, he find his camel in front of him. Allah Ta’ala becomes more happy than what this person becomes upon finding his camel. (Muslim 6890)
One should never become despondent from the mercy of Allah Ta’ala. We advise that you perform 2 rak’aats of salaatut taubah and beg Allah to pardon you. You should also promise not to make such a statement again. If by chance you slip up then you should make tauba again. Allah Ta’ala will most definitely forgive you.
2) The Noble Quran is the word of the All Mighty and deserves to be respected. The more respect you show to the Quran, the more Allah Ta’ala will bless you. Some etiquettes which should be shown is as follows:

  • To hold the Quran in the right hand
  • To keep it neat and tidy. Preferably it should be covered.
  • To keep it in a clean place.
  • To keep it on a shelf or some other high place.
  • Not to put anything else on top of it even if it is a deeni book.
  • As with regards to your question it would be equally permissible to keep the Quran straight (as we normally keep a book on the shelf) and it would also be permissible to put it on a side (as we normally leave a book on a desk).
    And Allah knows best
    Wassalam
