First I'd like to thank you for answering my previous question which has helped me a lot. I have a question in regards to reading quran. Does the woman need to wear hijab while reading the quran itself and/or be covered while reading quran on a piece of paper, and reading the quran in English?
Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuh. In principle, it is not necessary for a woman to cover her head while reading the Qur’ān. However, to do so is a mark of respect. Allāh Ta‘ālā says: ومن يعظم شعائر الله فإنها من تقوى القلوب “Whosoever venerates the symbols of Allāh, then it is truly from the piety of the hearts.” (Qur’ān, 22:32) While reciting the Qur’ān, one should bear in mind that he or she is communicating with Allāh Ta‘ālā, and hence should observe the utmost etiquette.[1] The practice of covering the head out of reverence for reading religious material has been recorded from the pious Salaf.[2] And Allah Ta‘ālā Knows Best Zameelur Rahman Student Darul Iftaa UK Checked and Concurred by, Mufti Ismail Desai & Mawlana Khalil Johnson www.daruliftaa.net
