Question Detail:

As the world becomes more technologically advanced, there are applications and devices created to make our every day lives easier. My question revolves around a Quran application that you could download on to your phone and it has all the Surahs and Ayaats of the Quran so you could basically read the Quran off of your phone whenever you want. I want to know if it is ok for you to handle your phone without wudhu if you have this Quran app on your phone and if it is ok for you to take your phone into the bathroom or be able to throw it or put it on the ground?

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
 
It is permissible for one to handle a mobile phone that has a Quran application stored in it without wudhu.[i] One should refrain from taking a mobile phone with a Quran application stored in it into a bathroom out of respect and reverence of the Quran[ii].
