Question Summary:
How should impure utensils be washed in the dishwasher?

Question Detail:

According to some of your answers on your site, if there is any najaasat (impurity) on cutlery, plates, etc due to the consumption of pork - then they must be washed with water three times in order to purify them.
My question is, is washing the plates/ forks etc in the dishwasher ONCE enough - as the way the dishwasher washes is different to hand washing a plate, or should the dishwasher be run three times.

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If the najasah (impurity) is visible, then the cutlery you're washing will be considered impure until the najasah (impurity) is completely removed from the cutlery. If that purpose is achieved after just one washing then the cutlery will be considered pure.1
If the najasah (impurity) leaves a stain on the cutlery which can be removed, then the cutlery will be considered impure until that stain is removed. If the najasah (impurity) leaves a stain that cannot be removed even after washing multiple times, then the cutlery will be considered pure.2
If the najasah (impurity) is invisible, then the cutlery will be considered pure, as soon as the person feels quite confident that it has been properly washed and that any impurity on it has been washed away.3
Most dishwashers shoot water through jets which simulate flowing or pouring water and as such impure cutlery normally does not require repeated washing. This is as long as the conditions for purifiying visible and invisible impurities given above are met.4 5 6
And Allāh knows best.
