Question Summary:
Position of Salāh performed with stolen clothes

Question Detail:

My non-muslim friend working in a garments company who freely took some branded cloths from the company's warehouse without the approval of the management.And he gifted me many of these cloths from past 2 years.My question is " Is my namaz  accepted or not by Allah because I used to wear these cloths while performing namaz"?
And I knew these were not legal cloths but still accepted the gifts because I thought it is the gift stolen from kafir. And ignored to ask anybody regarding this.Please tell me whether my Salaats are invalid.

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Your accepting the clothes in reference was impermissible, since they were taken by your friend without the company’s consent. Make sincere Tawbah and repent to Allāh Ta’ālā for accepting and utilizing such clothing. It is also necessary for you to compensate the company for the stolen items in one of the following ways:
1.      If the clothes are still in your possession and are still in good condition, then you must return the clothing to the company.[1]
 
2.       If the clothes are no longer in your possession, then purchase the same type of clothing and give the purchased clothes to the company.[2]
 
3.      If you are unable to find such clothing in the shops, then you must calculate the market value of these clothes and give this amount to the company.[3]
 
4.      If the company has shut down or has relocated and you are unable to return the clothing or compensate the value, then you must give the same to the needy as charity.[4]
 
You may consider returning the clothing to the company by anonymously mailing to them in order to protect yourself from any sort of trouble and difficulty.
Salāh performed whilst wearing stolen clothing is Makrūh Taḥrīmī (highly reprehensible). Repent to Allāh Ta’ālā for performing Ṣalāh with such clothing. [5] Nevertheless, your prayers were valid.

[4]  أَمَّا إذَا نَدِمَ الْغَاصِبُ عَلَى فِعْلِ الْغَصْبِ وَلَمْ يَظْفَرْ بِالْمَغْصُوبِ مِنْهُ لِيُعِيدَ الْمَغْصُوبَ إلَيْهِ فَلَهُ إمْسَاكُ الْمَالِ الْمَغْصُوبِ وَالْمُحَافَظَةُ عَلَيْهِ إلَى أَنْ يَنْقَطِعَ الْأَمَلُ فِي الظَّفَرِ بِهِ وَبَعْدَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ التَّصَدُّقُ بِهِ عَلَى فَقِيرٍ عَلَى أَنْ يَكُونَ ثَوَابُهُ لِلْمَغْصُوبِ مِنْهُ وَعَلَى شَرْطِ أَنْ يَكُونَ ضَامِنًا الْمَالَ الْمَغْصُوبَ لِلْمَغْصُوبِ مِنْهُ إذَا حَضَرَ وَلَمْ يُجِزْ الصَّدَقَةَ (رَدُّ الْمُحْتَارِ) .
