As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life in all settings.
Nursing entails taking care of patients in a wide variety of settings. It involves ensuring their comfort, assisting them in administering medication, and helping them in routine activities. These are all praiseworthy in Islam and were a common feature amongst the Sahaba. It is thus permissible for men to become nurses.[1]
