Question Summary:
My husband is on ventilator and is most of the time heavily sedated. How would we cover his missed salah? Question Detail:
1 : My husband is on a ventilator until his condition gets better. Hes concious but has to be kept sedated at all times. That being said, he is obviously unable to pray. What does he do about the missed prayers? Im keeping track of what has been missed.
2 : Shaykh, the ventilator description is as followed:
He was on the ventilator for a few days because of respiratory failure leading to pneumonia. He was given medication to keep him sedated and asleep most of the time. He did wake from time to time but has no memory of the days on the ventilator due to the medicine. He's making up the missed prayers slowly but I just wanted to provide more details, as you asked.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
We make du῾ā’ that Allah grants your husband complete recovery, Amīn.
In principle, if a person is unconscious due to medication, then the duration of the unconsciousness will be considered to determine the position of his salāh.
If the person remains unconscious for a complete day and night then it is an obligatory for him to make Qadhā’ of the five missed prayers once he regains consciousness.[1]
However, if he remains unconscious for more than a complete day and night to the extent that time for the sixth prayer expires[2] then the obligation of prayer will fall off. He will not need to make Qadhā’ for these missed prayers.[3]
