With regards to fatwa number 16312: Is it still ok to have both manicure/pedicure (as per your defiinition) and make-up, even if non-muslim women come to get make-up done? What if they go to clubs? or some other parties? 2. Is it allowed to work for a company who are RESP (Registered Education Savings Plan) providers? The money a person puts in that account may be invested in another companies that are not shariah compliant. Also, sometimes it earns interest as well. I apologize for not explaining RESP better. In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatuh 1) In essence, it is permissible to have manicure/pedicure and make up done for non-muslim women. This is on condition that there is no doubt of them doing the make up for haram (e.g. going to clubs, parties etc). If you are convinced that they are doing the make up only for haram, it would be makrooh to do the manicure/pedicure and make up for them. رد المحتار - (ج 6/ ص391 سعيد) ( قوله وجاز ) أي عنده لا عندهما بيع عصير عنب أي معصوره المستخرج منه فلا يكره بيع العنب والكرم منه بلا خلاف ، كما في المحيط لكن في بيع الخزانة أن بيع العنب على الخلاف قهستاني ( قوله ممن يعلم ) فيه إشارة إلى أنه لو لم يعلم لم يكره بلا خلاف قهستاني ( قوله لا تقوم بعينه إلخ ) يؤخذ منه أن المراد بما لا تقوم المعصية بعينه ما يحدث له بعد البيع وصف آخر يكون فيه قيام المعصية وأن ما تقوم المعصية بعينه ما توجد فيه على وصفه الموجود حالة البيع كالأمرد والسلاح ويأتي تمام الكلام عليه ( قوله أما بيعه من المسلم فيكره ) لأنه إعانة على المعصية قهستاني عن الجواهر . أقول : وهو خلاف إطلاق المتون وتعليل الشروح بما مر وقال ط : وفيه أنه لا يظهر إلا على قول من قال إن الكفار غير مخاطبين بفروع الشريعة والأصح خطابهم وعليه فيكون إعانة على المعصية ، فلا فرق بين المسلم والكافر في بيع العصير منهما فتدبر ا هـ 2) Due to the haram activities (interest etc), it will not be permissible to work at this company.
