some women wear hair extension, to make their hair grow and it works.i have heard that hair extension is prohibited in islam, is this true? if no, a woman who wears hijab and under her hijab she wears hair extension, is her prayer accepted?

Answer :

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
If the hair extensions are from human hair, even if her own, then it is not permissible.  However, if the hair is from any other animal, besides a pig, then it is permissible (Ahsan al-Fatāwā: 8/75; Sa'īd).  It is also permissible to pray with the hair extensions while they are covered underneath the hijāb.
In addition, it is important to mention that the laws of hijāb should be observed with the hair extensions, as well.  A woman should not expose her hair extensions in front of a non-mahram due to the fear of fitnah.  In principle, she does not have to cover her hair or the extensions if she is alone or in front of a mahram.  If she does cover her hair in front of them, it is an expression of modesty and respect.
                                                  
وإذا وصلت المرأة شعر غيرها بشعرها فهو مكروه، قال عليه السلام: «لعن الله الواصلة والمستوصلة» هي التي تصل شعر امرأة بشعر امرأة أخرى، وإنما جاءت الرخصة في شعر غير بني آدم، تتخذه المرأة، ويزيد في قرونها، هكذا ذكر في «النوازل» وهو مروي عن أبي يوسف

ووصل الشعر بشعر الآدمي حرام سواء كان شعرها أو شعر غيرها لقوله صلى الله عليه وسلم لعن الله الواصلة والمستوصلة والاشمة والمستوشمة والواشرة والمستوشرة والنامصة والمتنمصة
قال الإمام ابن عابدين في حاشيته:
( قوله سواء كان شعرها أو شعر غيرها ) لما فيه من التزوير كما يظهر مما يأتي وفي شعر غيرها انتفاع بجزء الآدمي أيضا لكن في التتارخانية وإذا وصلت المرأة شعر غيرها بشعرها فهو مكروه وإنما الرخصة في غير شعر بني آدم تتخذه المرأة لتزيد في قرونها ، وهو مروي عن أبي يوسف وفي الخانية ولا بأس للمرأة أن تجعل في قرونها وذوائبها شيئا من الوبر

ووصل الشعر بشعر الآدمي حرام سواء كان شعرها أو شعر غيرها كذا في الاختيار شرح المختار ولا بأس للمرأة أن تجعل في قرونها وذوائبها شيئا من الوبر كذا في فتاوى قاضي خان في جواز صلاة المرأة مع شعر غيرها الموصول اختلاف بينهم والمختار أنه يجوز كذا في الغياثية
