In the name of Allāh, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Assalāmu ῾alaykum wa Rahmatullāhi Wabarakātuh In principle, it is permissible for a Mulim male to dye his hair. However, according to the majority of the scholars, it is Makrooh (disliked) and one should abstain from using black dye. (Fatāwā Hindiyyah, Vol.5, Pg 359, Rashīdiyyah)[1]
(Raddul Muhtār, Vol.6, Pg.422, Hm Saeed)[2] You have stated in your query that you are using a dark brown dye which looks black. It is permissible for you to use such a type of dye in order to look younger before your spouse. It is narrated that Imam Abu Yusuf (rahimahullah) has mentioned: “As it pleases me when she adorns herself for me, it equally pleases her when I adorn myself for her” (Raddul Muhtār, Vol.6, Pg.422, Hm Saeed) And Allāh Ta῾āla Knows Best
