Question Summary: Can a person offer his Ṣalāh in a Shia Masjid? Question Detail:
Asalamualikum, I happened to visit a place in my city Lucknow, India where there was a shia mosque in the vicinity of an Imambarah..so can i offer my salah in such a mosque
Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful As-salāmu ʿalaykum wa-raḥmatullāhi wa-barakātuh A person should abstain from the gatherings of deviants and innovators to safeguard his ʿAqīdah (beliefs). The vast majority of Shias today have been classified as Kāfir (out of the fold of Islām) by our scholars. Therefore, it is not correct for a person to join the Jamāt (Ṣalāh in congregation) in a Shia Masjid. In a place where there is a Sunni Masjid in the vicinity of the Shia Masjid, a person should perform his Ṣalāh in the Sunni Masjid. However, in a place where there is no Sunni Masjid in the vicinity of the Shia Masjid, then in the case of a group of two or more people, they should make their own Jamāt, and in the case of a person being alone, he should perform his Ṣalāh individually.
