What is the method of making Masah of the ears since the Fuqaha did mention Sababa also among the Sunan of Wudhu? Should it be done with both the Khinsar and the Sababa? Which one should be preceded?
Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The Fuqaha have stated that it is Sunnah to make Masah of the outward portion of the ears with the Sababa and it is Mustahab (commendable) to make Masah of the auditory meatus (Simaakh) with the Khinsar. [1]
Masah of the outward/apparent portion of the ears and the auditory meatus (Simaakh) should be done simultaneously.[2]

[1] و (سننه) و مسح كل رأسه مرة و أذنيه معا. و في التاترخانية و من السنة مسحهما بماء الرأسز و البدئع: و هو سنة بماء الرأس ( رد المحتار ، ج 1، ص 120-121، ايج ايم سعيد)
و من السنة مسح الأذنين بالماء الذي يمسح به الرأس ( المحيط البرهاني، ج 1، ص 176، ادارة)
و ادخال خنصره المبلولة صماخ أذنيه عند مسحهما ( الدر المختار علي تنوير الأبصار و جامع البحار، ج 1، ص 125، أيج أيم سعيد)
و ادخال خنصره في صماخ أذنيه مبالغة في المسح ( مراقي الفلاح، فصل من آداب الوضوء،ص 47، دار التباع)
و ادخال خنصره أي: أنملة خنصره و هو بكسر الخاء و الصاد، و قال الفارسي: الفصيح فتح الصاد. قال في المحيط: و يدخل خنصره في صماخ أذنيه و يحركها و هو مروي عن أبي يوسف ( حاشية الطحطاوي، ج 1، ص 118، دار التباع)
و ادخال الأصبع في صماخ أذنيه أدب و ليس بسنة هو المشهور ( المحيط البرهاني، ج 1، ص 177، ادارة)
