Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatuh From the day I was born, I’ve had this really big birthmark on the right side of my face and growing up I’ve always had people stare at me, make comments about my birthmark and bully me and this obviously affected my self esteem so I didn’t know or never really had the chance to express myself the way I wanted to as people used to treat me different from everybody else even though it was only a birthmark and not some kind of defect. But then I came across make up (foundation) and this really helped me gain more confidence and this made me much happier, the problem is that I spend about £15-20 a month on foundation, it doesn’t sound that much but it’s all coming from my mum’s money and sometimes I get really tired of wearing make up as I never liked it but it allows me to conceal the birthmark that I don’t want anyone to see. I would even have my stepdad make fun out of my birthmark and some of my uncles asking my dad why he hasn’t took me to a doctor to remove it as it didn’t look very nice. It literally looks like a bruise and I can’t keep concealing it with make up and I’m afraid that it’ll have an effect on my marriage in the future. The main thing I’ve been wanting to ask is if it would be permissible for me to get laser surgery for me to remove my birthmark as this is a much faster and effective process? I also think I would gain much more confidence and have a better self esteem. I hope you will answer this question In’Shaa’Allah! Thank you very much!!

و لا بأس بشق المثانة إذا كان فيها حصاة و في الكيسانيات في الجراحات المخوفة و القروح العظيمة و الحصاة الواقعة في المثانة و نحوها من العلل إن قيل قد ينجو و قد يموت أو ينجو و لا يموت تعالج * و إن قيل لا ينجو أصلا لا تداوى بل تترك و يباح قطع اليد للاكلة * رجل له سلعة أو حجر فأراد أن يستخرجه و يخاف منه الموت قال أبو يوسف رحمه الله تعالى إن كان فعله أحد فنجا فلا بأس بأن يفعل لأنه يكون معالجة و لا يكون تعريضا للهلاك * و في الفتاوي إذا أراد أن يقطع إصبعا زائدة أو شيئا آخر قال أبو نصر رحمه الله تعالى إن كان الغالب على من قطع مثل ذلك الهلاك فإنه لا يفعل لأنه تعريض النفس للهلاك * و إن كان الغالب هو النجاة فهو في سعة من ذلك

وأما قطع الإصبع الزائدة ونحوها؛ فإنه ليس تغييرا لخلق الله، وإنه من قبيل إزالة العيب أو مرض، فأجازه أكثر العلماء خلاف لبعضهم.
