Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. You desire to see a sign from Allāh to feel the existence of Allāh. You state any small sign will suffice. Actually, we are witnessing countless major signs of Allāh in us and around us. It is just that we do not ponder and reflect. Allāh says in the Qur’ān: وَفِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ[1] “And (there are numerous signs) within yourselves, do you not (contemplate and) see?” Allāh’s unique design and creation of the human body is a manifestation of His power and a clear sign of His existence. Every single feature, organ and limb of the human body is a major sign indicating the presence of a supernatural being i.e. Allāh. Take a look at the human heart. “It will beat around seventy times a minute, some thirty-five million times a year, and some two trillion times during an average lifespan. It will pump a total of some two hundred and twenty seven million liters of blood throughout its owner's life. This astonishing amount could fill a ten ton tanker in a day, or hundred full-capacity swimming pools in a lifetime. And this extraordinary pump seldom misses a beat from its rhythm, and never goes wrong and becomes old. It ever loses its ability to pump blood throughout the body until the death of its owner. That is because this is an extraordinary miracle of Allāh, Who is able to create a superior artistry, flawlessness, an incomparable balance and magnificent intelligence all at once. By beating an average of seventy times a minute, the heart moves blood around the body a thousand times a day. This means that blood visits every cell in the body thousand times a day, carries to them the necessary nutrients, gives oxygen and takes back carbon dioxide, repairs damage, makes good defects and collects wastes. Thanks to the heart's tireless efforts, every cell in the body is "inspected" a thousand times a day. The heart pumps eight thousand liters of blood everyday. The heart of an adult pumps three hundred and forty liters of blood an hour even while sleeping. At that same rate, one could easily fill a car's gas tank in just seven minutes. The heart is a piece of muscle the size of a fist, consisting of water, fat and protein, but possessing a far more perfect and complex system than even the most advanced pump that has yet been developed by experts working with computers. This incomparable piece of flesh is powerful enough to squirt blood two meters (six feet) high into the air.”[2] Every detail in this great miracle is sufficient for a person to have faith and see the evident proofs of Allāh’s existence. Every single organ and limb of the body has such fascinating features and capabilities. Are these not clear enough signs indicating the presence of Allāh? The Qur’ān explains an incident in the life of Hadhrat Īsā Alayhis Salām. After his disciples had asked for a table spread to be sent from the skies as a feast and a sign towards his prophethood, Allāh said: “Certainly I shall send it you. (However), whosoever disbelieves after that, I shall subject him to such a (severe) punishment the likes of which I have not subjected anybody with in the universe.” [3] Therefore, to request for such signs could be disastrous. Rather, we advise that you make constant du’ā to Allāh to open your heart for guidance. You may recite the following du’ās that Rasulullāh Sallallāhu Alayhi Wa Sallam would constantly make: يَا مُقَلِّبَ القُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ [4] اللهُمَّ مُصَرِّفَ الْقُلُوبِ صَرِّفْ قُلُوبَنَا عَلَى طَاعَتِكَ [5] Tranliteration: “Yā Muqallib-al-Qulūb Thabbit Qalbī ‘Alā Dīnik. Allāhumma Musarrif-al-Qulūb Sarrif Qulubanā ‘Alā Ta‘ātik.” Translation: “O Controller of the hearts! Make my heart steadfast on Your Deen. “O Allah! Controller of the hearts, direct our hearts to Your obedience.” You should also keep in contact with a spiritual guide (Shaykh) in or around your area and seek his advice. We make du’ā to Allāh he eases your difficulties and guides you.
