One day I was sitting down and putting my hand on my head then someone told me it is forbidden to do that because Rasul Allah said that if you do that it mean you are putting all the problems into your head. People should put there hand on there jaw bone that way problems will go away. Is there any truth in this?
Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. It is not prohibited to generally place one’s hand over the head. Placing the hands on the jawbone as a remedy for problems has no basis in Shari’ah. However, you may consider the following narration mentioned by some Muhadditheen: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ مَسَحَ جَبْهَتَهُ بِيَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَقَالَ: بِسْمِ اللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الرَّحْمَنُ الرَّحِيمُ اللهُمَّ أَذْهِبْ عَنِّي الْهَمَّ وَالْحَزَنَ “When the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam used to make salaam from his Salaah, he would wipe his forehead with his right hand and say: بِسْمِ اللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الرَّحْمَنُ الرَّحِيمُ اللهُمَّ أَذْهِبْ عَنِّي الْهَمَّ وَالْحَزَنَ (In the name of Allah, there is no Lord but He, who is the Most-Merciful and the Most-Beneficent. Oh Allah, remove anxiety and grief from me).”[1] And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best AbdulMannan Nizami Student Darul Iftaa Chicago, IL, USA Checked and Approved by, Mufti Ebrahim Desai.
