Question Summary: Is It Permissible To Wear A Shia Pendent? Question Detail:
My friend when to Mumbai and got a pendent of Aqiq which has name of Allah taa’a and Prophet Muhammad saws and Hazrat ‘Ali k.w, Bibi Fatima r.a, Imam Hasan and Hussain r.anhuma. The only reason i am prefering not ot wear it is because of the thought of behurmati while going to washroom and other things and find that there is a chance one can be careless about his taharah and misuse it. However it is a mushabihat of the shia but Ahle bayt a.s are for all Ummah and we Ahle sunnah have more right of them. Should wearing it be an act which will make me do behurmati of the names of these August personalities. Also shaykh i think if the book Taufa Ithna Ashari is translated into English it will do a lot fo good to the English speaking audience and if also Dars on this great Book is given it will help is remove the darkness created by the shia and at the same time upholding the Adam and Muhabbat of Ahle bayt and Shaba r.anhuma which is the Belief of Ahle Sunnah. In my Family there are few members who are shia and they are mainly from my Mother's family but ALhamdulilah we all are Ahle sunnah , but i pity them for their misguidance. Which good books in English or Urdu i can present them. Taufa is more Advance in Language and Level i believe. Please advice Shaykh?
Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. Love for each and every Sahābī is a crucial aspect of one’s Dīn. It is a salient feature of the Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jamā’ah. The Qurān and Hadīth are replete with praises of Sahābah Radhiyallāhu Anhum. In the Holy Qurān, Allāh Ta’ālā announces that He is pleased with the Sahābah Radhiyallāhu Anhum. Rasūlullāh Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam has stated that the Sahābah are the best of people. Rasūlullāh Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam said: خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي (صحيح مسلم، بَابُ فَضْلِ الصَّحَابَةِ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ) The best people are those who are in my era. (Sahīh Muslim) Your query is regarding the pendant that has an inscription of the name of Allāh Ta’ālā, Rasūlullāh Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam, Hadhrat Ali, Hadhrat Fātimah, Hadhrat Hasan, and Hadhrat Husain Radhiyallāhu Anhum. We are not aware of the status such a pendant holds according to the Shias. However, from your query, it seems that such a pendant holds value to the Shias. If this is so, then one should not wear such a pendant as this entails Tashabbuh (emulation) with the Shias, which is prohibited. Furthermore, the demand of Sahābah’s love is to emulate the lifestyle and ways of Sahābah. It is to keep the Sahābah as role models in every phase of life. Merely wearing a pendant with the names of Sahābah is not the correct way of expressing love for Sahābah. Especially in the case of Shias who claim to admire a few Sahābah and they dishonor other prominent Sahābah Radhiyallāhu Anhum. A very good book on the beliefs of Shias in the Urdu language is “Ikhtilaafe Ummah Aur Siraate Mustaqeem” written by Hadhrat Moulana Yousuf Ludhyaanwi Rahimahullāh. The English translation of the book is: “Differences of the Ummah”. And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best Abdul Azīm bin Abdur Rahman, Student Darul Iftaa U.S.A. Checked and Approved by, Mufti Ebrahim Desai.
