Question Summary: Is it permissible for me to keep fast and pray my salaat and recite the Qur’aan when I am in the state of haidh? Question Detail:
I need advice regarding keeping fast and reading salat. In the past I suffered from heavy menstral bleeding which would last me 2 weeks at a time, and due to this it had affected my health and as a result I had a coil fitted internally. This stopped my bleeding completely over a period of time. However during my menstral cycle due date I discharge sometimes heavily brown to yellow in colour, plus I get menstral pains. The discharge last about 3-4 days at a time. My question is, is it permisible for me to keep fast and pray my salat and recite the Quran when I am discharging, or do I wait the 3 days for the discharging to stop and then take ghusul and continue with my fast?
Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. From your question, we understand that you have only 3-4 days discharge a month during your normal Haidh period. If so, the discharge will be regarded as Haidh and you cannot perform Salāh or recite the Qur’ān during these days. If you experience this during the month of Ramadān, then you cannot fast as well. However, you will have to make Qadhā (make up) for the missed fasts after Ramadān. [1] There is no Qadhā for the missed Salāhs.
