INDIAN GOVERNMENT INTERFERES IN MPL
[MUSLIM PERSONAL LAW]
India is a Secular State that guarantees its citizens Freedom of Religion. The MPL [Muslim Personal Law] charter has been implemented within this entrenched clause. The Indian Constitution also clearly states that any law that interferes with Freedom of Religion will be declared unconstitutional.
Despite such guarantees, the Indian Government has requested the Supreme Court of India to declare three talaqs (divorce), polygamy and halala as illegal under the civil code. There is much media hype on the MPL issue at the moment. The Senior Ulama of India are vigorously opposing the Government on this.
Hadhrat Mufti Ahmed Khanpuri Sahib (Hafidhahullah) instructed me to translate the book "عائلی تنازعات کا شرعی حل اور شوہر کو حق طلاق کیوں".We hope the book will make useful read and the MPL issue in India will serve as an eye opener for many of us. Mufti Ahmed Khanpuri Sahib (Hafidhahullah) has written the foreword to the book.
