Question Summary: If the feet are lifted in Sajdah does it break the Salah? Question Detail:
If the feet are lifted off the ground does it break namaz as it states in mishkat
Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. Sister in Islam, You state “as it states in Mishkat” What do you mean by it and where is stated in Mishkat? Nevertheless, if the feet never touch touched the ground in Sajdah and remained above the ground, then the Salah will be invalid.[1] However, if the feet did touch the ground for a short while and then were lifted above the ground, the Salah will be valid.[2] The feet should remain on the ground during the entire Sajdah. To lift the feet from the ground is Makrooh. In fact, according to another opinion if the feet are above the ground for the duration of three Tasbeehat, the Salaah will be invalid[3]. Therefore, one should exercise extreme precaution and avoid lifting the feet in Sajdah. And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best Saleem Ibn Sajawal Khan Bradford, UK Student Darul Iftaa

[2] This opinion is held by the following illustrious Ulema:
Hadhrat Mufti Aziz ur Rahman (Rahmatullahi Alaih) [Fatawa Darul Uloom Deoband vol. 1 pg. 242]
Hadhrat Mufti Rashid Ahmad Ludyanwi (Rahmatullahi Alaih) [Ahsanul Fatawa vol. 3 pg. 398]
Hadhrat Mufti Khair Muhammad Jalandhari (Rahmatullahi Alaih) [Khairul Fatawa vol. 2 pg. 428]
This view seems to be more appropriate and fitting. After studying the Ibaraat used by the Ulema that hold the other opinion (that the Sajdah becomes invalid), it seems as those Ibaraat are only referring to that case wherein a person keeps his feet off the ground for the entire duration of Sajdah. They don’t seem to substantiate their opinion at all. Also, if a person has kept his feet on the ground for one Tasbeeh, the Sajdah is complete. Therefore, how can the Sajdah be invalid by lifting the feet after it is complete? Moreover, this opinion can be preferred for the reason that it is much easier to act upon by the general public.
[3] This opinion is held by the following illustrious Ulema:
Hadhrat Mufti Kifayatullah (Rahmatullahi Alaih) [Kifayatul Mufti vol. 3 pg. 421]
Hadhrat Mufti Mahmood-ul- Hassan Gangohi (Rahmatullahi Alaih) [Fatawa Mahmoodiya vol. 6 pg. 634 Faruqiya]
Hadhrat Mufti Abdul Haqq (Rahmatullahi Alaih) [Fatawa Haqaniyyah vol. 3 pg. 82]
Taqwa (piety) and Ihtiyaat (precaution) dictate that it is better to act upon this view as this was held and substantiated by these illustrious Ulema. Also, in acts of Ibadaat (worship) Ihtiyaat (precaution) is required. However, the Fatwa will be given upon the first view due to the above mentioned reasons.
