Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. Respected brother in Islam, We understand your predicament and understand the urge you have to get married and get settled. We should also understand how fortunate we are to be Muslims for our Deen has given us solutions for each and every challenge that we face. It is mentioned in a hadith: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم يا معشر الشباب من استطاع منكم الباءة فليتزوج فانه اغض للبصر و احسن للفرج و من لم يستطع فعليه بالصوم فانه له وجاء Nabi (Sallallahu Alayi Wa Sallam) mentioned in a hadith: Oh youth whoever amongst you has the ability to get married, he should get married for it is effective in averting the gaze and protecting ones chastity. And however isn’t able he should fast for it reduces his temptations. (Mishkaat page 267 Qadeemi) In the above hadith a very important point that Nabi (Sallallahu Alayi Wa Sallam) has mentioned is that those with the ability to get married should do so. The word (الباءة) in the hadith generally refers to having financial ability to provide for one’s wife during a marriage. If you have the ability to provide for yourself and your wife then, getting married would be the most advisable option for you to protect your chastity and your Imaan. However, you should also understand that it is only necessary for you to provide the basic needs that one requires to live comfortably and not the common criteria of having to provide all the unnecessary luxuries that has become a norm in people today. However, if you have financial restrains then the only option you will be left with is that you fast. Inshallah fasting will be very helpful in controlling your desires. If the restrains you are facing are from your parent’s side then, you should explain to your parents the importance and significance of Nikaah. You should also explain to them your need for getting married. You may also recite the following and ask Allah Taala for your needs. Recite Surah Yaseen 41 times and make dua to Allah Taala for it is very effective and beneficial in fulfilling ones worldly needs. [1] Read the following verse of the Quraan 100 times: فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ Transliteration: Fain tawallaw faqul hasbi Allah lailaha ila huwa alayhi tawakaltu wahuwa rabbul arshil azeem. Translation: If they turn away then say ‘’Allah is sufficient for me. There is none worthy of worship but Him. On him we relay and He is the Rabb of the glorious Throne.’’ (Surah Taubah-129) رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا Transliteration: Rabbana bablana min azwajina wa thuriyatina kurrata ayuniw wajalna lil mutaqeena imama Our lord grant us from our spouses and our off spring coolness of our eyesand make us guides for the muttaqeen.(Surah Furqaan-74) And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best Ismail Dawoodjee Student Darul Iftaa Zambia Checked and Approved by, Mufti Ebrahim Desai. www.daruliftaa.net [1]Remedies from the holy Quraan by Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi
