Question Summary: How many times do I have to wash off dog saliva? Question Detail:
I am confused about the issue of dog saliva. In the hanafi madhaab it says to wash it 3 times to remove it, what about tap water or a shower hose which can easily remove dog saliva with just one big wash. If I have dog saliva on me and im in a state of janabah do I still need to wash 3 times with a shower hose or will one big wash of water be enough to remove the dog saliva aswell as janabah? also if a dog licks my hand will washing it once be enough to get rid of it and will salah be valid
Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. The Fuqaha have advised to wash the soiled area of impurity thrice to ensure the impurity is removed. If one is certain that the impurity will be removed with one big wash —as in the case of dog saliva— then that is also sufficient.[1] If you are in the state of janabah (major impurity), then the dog saliva will be removed once you perform ghusl and take a shower.
