Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Zina is haraam (strictly prohibited) and a major sin in islam. In a muslim country if a married person is found guilty of zina, the punishment is to stone him to death. If he is an unmarried person, then the punishment is one hundred lashes.
The punishment serves as a deterrent against the evil and immoral act of zina.
As general human beings we are weak and prone to commit mistakes and sins. Almighty Allah, through His infinite mercy has kept the doors of tauba (repentance) open. Allah Ta'ala mentions in the Quraan Majeed:
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." Sura Az-Zumar, Ayah 53
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said:
Every person is a sinner and the best of sinners are those who repenti
The one who repents from sins is like the one who didn't commit any sinii
Translation: Anas bin Malik Al-Ansari (May Allah be pleased with him) the servant of the Messenger of Allah narrated: Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alahi Wa Sallam) said, "Verily, Allah is more delighted with the repentance of His slave than a person who lost his camel in a desert land and then finds it (unexpectedly)". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
The conditions for an accepted tauba are,
1) Abandon the sin completely
2)Be remorseful over the sin
3)Make a firm resolution not to return to the sin
4)If the sin is related to the rights of people, that should be fulfilled.
If one fulfils the conditions of tauba, then be rest assured that he is forgiven.
One of the signs of being forgiven is the person changes his life. He reforms himself and is more Allah conscious.
We advice to adopt the company of the pious and identify a spiritual guide to change and reform ones life.
