1) Alhamdulilah I am involved with the effort of Tabligh, and I just wanted to ask the reference of a particular story that is often narrated. The story involves Musa AS and the magicians, and explains how the magicians dressed like Musa AS to mock him, but were guided by Allah due to their resemblence to Musa AS through Allah SWT's love for Musa AS. This story is important because it shows the value of dressing in the Sunnah manner, but I cannot find a reference for it anywhere. I was wondering what book it was in.
2) My father is extremely averse and adverse to adopting Islamic practices in the home. Due to this, I cannot do much more than my fardh and wajib duties (praying, fasting, etc.). Although he lets me do these, he dislikes me going to the masjid, or speaking about Islamic matters of sirah and hadith with my mother or sister (who are also interested). Due to this handicap, I have trouble gaining knowledge and bettering myself when he is around. However, he is going to Pakistan for two months in a week, and I was wondering what the best deed to involve myself would be. What can I do, in this short time, that will bring about the most lasting khair in my life when he is back? I am planning on going on jamaat for three days each month (he does not and would never let me do this in his presence) and also getting weekly tajwid classes. What else would you suggest, specifically?

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
1. We were unable to locate the authenticity of the story in reference. There are many verses of Qur’ān and Ahādīth expounding on the importance of Islamic dressing. 
2.  MashAllāh, it is truly commendable to take note that you are involved in the noble effort of Tablīgh. It is also commendable to take note that certain family members of yours are interested in learning and inculcating the teachings of Dīn in their lives. May Allāh Ta‘āla reward you and your family abundantly and continue to grant you steadfastness and blessings for your efforts, and may Allāh Ta‘āla grant you acceptance in the effort of Tablīgh. Āmīn.
Perhaps, if you were to mention the reason as to why your father is averse to adopting Islamic practices at home, we would be in a better position to advise you on the matter. Nonetheless, since you are involved in the effort of Tablīgh, we suggest that you request some of the brothers of Tablīgh to meet your father in a “khususi mulaqaat”, this will help your father to be influenced towards the right direction.
You may choose to spend some time in Jamā‘ah while your father is away, take advantage of the opportunity so that you may increase your knowledge of Dīn and teach others at home. We also advise that you make mashwarah and consult with your local Imam as to which program and classes you may enroll in, he will advise you accordingly.
Lastly, resort to Salāh al-Hājah and Du‘ā’ for your father. The changing of hearts is in the hands of Allāh Ta‘āla.
