Answer :

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Brother in Islaam,

Rasulullaah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said,

إِيَّاكُمْ وَالظَّنَّ، فَإِنَّ اَلظَّنَّ أَكْذَبُ اَلْحَدِيثِ

Translation: “Avoid suspicion, for suspicion is the most false form of talk.” (Bukhaari 5143, Muslim 2563)

Islaam teaches us to think positive and good about others; give them the benefit of the doubt. There could be many explanations to what you saw. How certain are you that it is your mother who is engaging in the above actions? It is possible someone else is using your mother’s phone. Leave the issue and do not let it affect you. You may apply wisdom and respectfully approach your mother on the issue. She will probably give you another explanation that will alleviate the evil thoughts in your mind.

In the future, do not breach anyone’s privacy and pry through their calling and browsing history.

Irrespective of the reality of the matter, remember that at the end of the day, she is your mother. Do not for once treat her ill or show even the slightest bit of disrespect. Be dutiful to her. Make du’aa for her and leave the rest to Allaah Ta’aala.
