Can my wife travel on the plane without a mahram?

Question Detail:

I am staying in Dubai and I want to bring my wife. Can she travel in the plane without mahram. Her father will be leaving her in the airport and I will be picking up her in the airport in dubai. The journey may be about 3.5 hours. 

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It is not permissible for your wife to travel by plane by herself without her husband or a mahram. [1]
Rasūlullāh (sallAllāhu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:
لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ أَنْ تُسَافِرَ سَفَرًا يَكُونُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ فَصَاعِدًا، إِلَّا وَمَعَهَا أَبُوهَا، أَوِ ابْنُهَا، أَوْ زَوْجُهَا، أَوْ أَخُوهَا، أَوْ ذُو مَحْرَمٍ مِنْهَا
“It is not permissible for a woman that believes in Allah and the Last Day to travel a journey that is (the distance of) three days (i.e. 48 miles) or more, unless her father, her son, her husband, her brother or a man un-marriagable to her accompanies her.” (Sahīh Muslim, 2398)
