In the name of Allāh, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Assalāmu ῾alaykum wa Rahmatullāhi Wabarakātuh 1) Rasulullah (sallallāhu alaihi wasallam) has mentioned Qiyāmah will take place upon the worst and most wretched of Allah’s creation. (Sahih Muslim, Vol.2, Pg406, Rashīdiyyah)[1] Prior to Qiyāmah taking place, Allah Ta’ala will send a gentle breeze. It will not leave a single person who possesses an iota of Imān in his heart except that his soul will be taken. Thereafter, the most wretched people will remain and Qiyāmah will take place upon them. (Sahih Muslim, Vol.2, Pg144, Rashīdiyyah)[2] 2) It is Sunnah to do Tahnīk for a new born child. The method of Making Tahnīk is by chewing a piece of date, making it soft into a paste and to place it on the palate of the new born child. If dry dates are not available, then fresh dates, otherwise, with honey or something sweet. Rasulullah (sallallāhu alaihi wasallam) did Tahnīk for Abdullah ibn Abi Talha and Abdullah ibn Zubair (radiyallahu anhuma). (῾Umdatul Qāri, Vol.21, Pg.83, Rashīdiyyah)[3] The Tahnīk can be done by anyone. However, it is preferable to take the child to a pious scholar etc to do the Tahnīk. It is hoped through the Barakah (blessings) that the saliva of the pious scholar was the first thing that entered the child’s mouth, Allah will favour this child to grow up pious and obedient. In no way does this mean that, if a sinful person did the Tahnīk, the child will grow up to be disobedient. (῾Umdatul Qāri, Vol.21, Pg.84, Rashīdiyyah)[4] And Allāh Ta῾āla Knows Best
