Question Summary: Are these wazifas authentic? Question Detail:
1) I was told that if someone recites Surah Maryam for 40 days (excluding the cycle days), then one gets married quickly. I wanted to know how reliable this wazeefa is. Someone tried doing that but missed it on one day and hence broke her wazeefa. Was wondering if it would have any reverse effects now. 2) We gather used things and sell them in a garage sale to generate money for our madresah. I wanted to ask if we can take things that are gifted to people by relatives/friends who work in banks and their income is not halal (due to banks dealing in riba etc). Sine people can't use them, they asked us if they could donate that to us for our garage sale but since we do it for the purpose of madresah, I wanted to inquire if that would be a right thing to do. Jazakumullah khayr
Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. 1). The wazifah in reference is possibly tried and tested. One may practice on such a wazifah with the belief that the outcome is based on peoples’ experiences. Ultimately, all affairs are in the total control of Allah. Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanwi Rahimahullah has prescribed the following wazifah[1] for a person wishing to get married: Write the following verses on a piece of paper and wear it around your neck: وَلَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَى مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجًا مِنْهُمْ زَهْرَةَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ وَرِزْقُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى. وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِالصَّلَاةِ وَاصْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَا لَا نَسْأَلُكَ رِزْقًا نَحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَ وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلتَّقْوَى (طه:١٣٢-١٣١) And do not extend your gaze towards the things We have given to some groups of them to enjoy, so that We put them to test thereby, it being merely glamour of the worldly life. And the bounty of your Lord is better and more lasting. And command your household to pray, and be steadfast on it. We do not ask you for sustenance. We shall sustain you! The ultimate end is in favour of taqwa (Tāhā: 131-132) 2). A blanket ruling cannot be given on the permissibility/impermissibility of the income of employees at a bank. Certain job descriptions are not against the dictates of Shariah. Accounting, for example, for a bank is permissible. Please state clearly what is the function of the bank employees in reference.
