As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
“Justplay.co.za” is a website that allows one to participate in a competition and win free prizes. All one needs to do is sign up for free and enter draws by answering short, simple questionnaires. One may enter the online competitions as many times as one likes and increase one`s chances of winning. Winner's names are drawn randomly by a computer, but the more entries one has in a particular competition, the more chances there are of one`s name being drawn.[1]
Accordingly, it is permissible to take part in the justplay competitions.
However, “justplay” also facilitates for VIP users who pay a R5 subscription fee. Consequently, this will fall in the category of gambling[2] which is prohibited. [3][4] There is a strong possibility that one may enter as a general user and may not resist being a VIP user.[5] We therefore dissuade from even being the general user of “justplay”.[6]

[5] والقرعة في الحقوق تنقسم إلى معنيين أحدهما تطييب النفوس من غير إحقاق واحد من المقترعين ولا بخس حظه مما اقترعوا عليه مثل القرعة في القسمة وفي قسم النساء وفي تقديم الخصوم إلى القاضي والثاني مما ادعاه مخالفونا في القرعة بين عبيد أعتقهم المريض ولا مال له غيرهم فقول مخالفينا هنا من جنس الميسر المحظورة بنص الكتاب لما فيه من نقل الحرية عمن وقعت عليه إلى غيره بالقرعة ولما فيه أيضا من إحقاق بعضهم وبخس حقه حتى لا يخطئ منه بشيء واستيفاء بعضهم حقه وحق غيره ولا فرق بينه وبين الميسر في المعنى (احكام القرن للجصاص، سورة الماءدة، باب تحريم الخمر)
