Is that is it allowed to go for the fathya khane and quran khani if some one invites me and eat there food/meat etc? Is it alowed to read the salat/salam and and hold our hands as we do in dua?
Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. Whilst we understand and acknowledge the virtue of reading the Quran and feeding people and sending Durood and Salaam, we also have to guard ourselves against bidah. Rasulullah sallalaahu alayhi wa sallam said: «من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس فيه، فهو رد» Translation: “Whoever invents in this religion of ours which is not in it then it is rejected” In principle, when one does any act which is permissible it should not be regarded as compulsory or fixed with a particular time and regard that time as compulsory. As such, if there is a custom of Quran khani and feeding people etc which is regarded as compulsory then it will be an act of bidah and as such it will be prohibited. If the intention is of gaining reward, then we advise reciting the Quran individually or contributing towards an Islamic institution that teaches Quran and/or feed the poor etc.[1] And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best Mohammed Patel, Student Darul Iftaa Lusaka, Zambia Checked and Approved by, Mufti Ebrahim Desai.
