Question Summary: Can one give skin of Aqīqah animal to butcher as a remuneration? Question Detail:
I have done Aqeeqah of my baby girl. The Butcher demanded 300 Rupees and Skin of animal. Some one told me that Skin of animal cannot be given to the butcher. Is the Aqeeqah valid? What should i do now?
Answer :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh. One should not give any part of the Aqīqah animal to the butcher as his remuneration.[1] If one has given the skin of the animal as part of the butcher’s remuneration, he should calculate the market value of the skin that was given and give this amount in Sadaqah to the poor.[2] There is no need to repeat the Aqīqah.
