Question Detail:

I was married to my husband for 8 months and we had a few arguments and family problems. Later on I asked him for divorce and three weeks later I was at my parents and he sent a letter writing talaak 3 times . He did not know at that time that 1 divorce is enough. Is this still counted as 3 talaaks ?

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
 
The three written divorces issued by your husband are valid and will constitute talaq-e-mugallazah (a permanently irrevocable divorce).[1]
 
The nikah has been severed and you are no longer husband and wife.
