Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
From your question, it appears that you are attributing the accident you suffered to the dream you saw few days prior to the incident. The calamity you encountered was neither a consequence nor the reality of your dream. The dream you saw was from Satan and the accident your hand suffered was with the decree of Allah.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
A good dream that comes true is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan[1].
The congruent occurrence of your accident to your dream is coincidence and thus calamities cannot be associated to dreams per se. It is sometimes the anxiety a person suffers subsequent to a traumatic dream that makes him paranoid and succumb to an action he had dreamt and was afraid of.
However, in future, you may adopt the following practices on experiencing such dreams:

  • Seek protection in Allah from the evil of the dream and Satan
  • Spit lightly to the left thrice
  • Change your direction of sleep and turn over to the other side[2]
  • Recite “laa hawla wa la quwwata illaa billah”
  • Observe two voluntary rak`ats on waking up
  • Do not mention the nightmare to anyone
  • Firmly belief that it was a meaningless dream and it will be harmless to you
  • Give some charity
  • Do not allow the dream to dishearten you and  to occupy your mind in worry and discontent
  • Do not make dreams the focus of your attention. There will be many instances where dreams are simply an exposition of ones thoughts. The issue of dreams is similar to a traveller. A traveller will witness and encounter various different sceneries and surroundings. Yet, he will continue his journey and will not allow the scenery to stop him from travelling and from reaching his ultimate aim and objective.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: A good dream that comes true is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan, so if anyone of you sees a bad dream, he should spit on the left and he should seek refuge with Allah from the evil of it, for the bad dream will not harm him
