Question Summary:
Should I Pay Kaffarah For A Voluntary Fast Which I Broke?

Question Detail:

Do i have to pay or fast the kaffarah for a voluntary fast which i broke with a sin?
Im male and have fasted for more than 40 days now because i wasn't in a position to do the other expiations, free a slave, feed the poor etc

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Kaffarah literally means penance, atonement, expiation.

If one breaks the voluntary fast, one only has to make qadah (repeat) of that fast.

There is no further penalty for breaking a voluntary fast.[1]
