Masah of the nape and meaning of the name Haika

Question Detail:

As-salāmu ῾alaykum, first of all I would like to thank you for the work you have been doing. May Allah reward you. I had a couple of questions.

1.      A lot of brothers in our Masjid have raised the issue that masah (wiping) of the nape is Bidah and Ghuloo in Deen. I was hoping you can give some authentic Ahadith regarding the issue.
2.      Could you please tell me the meaning of the name Haika? (حائكة)

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 
As-salāmu ῾alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In wudu, it is mustahab (preferable) to make masah of the nape (the back part of the neck). However, the Fuqahā have stated that making masah of the throat (the front part of the neck) is bid῾ah (innovation), hence, impermissible.[1]  
In regards to your second query, the name Haika (حائكة) means a female weaver or knitter.[2]
