Question Summary:
How to combat the whispers of Shaytaan?

Question Detail:

AssalamoAlaikum, my question is same as asked previous one. Just adding more details. Please answer this one and disregard previous asked question on this same topic ( saying ofcourse or ofcourse not) as that one doesn’t have much details and bit unclear. Some people came to our place and everyone was talking about partner visa and the on the topic of my husband’s brother ( my brother in law) second wife visa process that it took long time. My husband also started telling that his brother’s second wife visa took long and was talking about his brother’s divorce matter that he had to wait 12 months before getting his second wife partner visa. He said that his brother needed to show his divorce certificate for visa purposes etc. He was mainly explaining to other people that it takes long time for partner visa to process and I and some other girl translated some part of it to the people sitting and listening to visa details and didnt understand English properly. I knew he was talking about his brother and was telling others in regards to partner visa details but i am person with waswasas and wanted to clear my mind so later when those people went home I asked my husband whether he had any bad intention of divorce or not to which he said absolutely no bad intention he said he was talking a completely different thing( about his brother’s matter). In the past, i keep getting waswasas on his normal said things sometimes and ask him about his intentions. When I asked him about whether he had bad intention ( meaning i wanted to clear that I wasn’t in his mind) so i asked that ‘ so you didn’t have bad intention right’ and he said ‘of course not’ ( means no bad intention) I asked again and he was gonna say ofcourse not but I interrupted before he could completely say it He either said ofcourse or ofcourse not I didn’t hear all he may had said ofcourse not . I am just worried that he may had said only ofcourse to my question but I am not sure as I didn’t hear his complete word and kept asking about his intention. Now there is new waswasa in my mind what if he only said ofcourse to one of my question. I am also sure he didn’t have bad intention but I just asked to clear my mind. But now worried that cause when i asked him ‘did u have bad intention or you didn’t have bad intention he kept saying of ofcourse not( means no bad intention) n i asked again i only heard ofcourse he might had said ofcourse not. Just that thing stuck to my mind as I didn’t let him finish his word ( ofcourse not and he only said or may had said ofcourse not I didn’t hear ‘not’ as i kept asking) and after asking again he said ofcourse not (means no bad intention). My husband got very angry On the fact that i keep asking about his intentions when he was talking about someone else like his brother which is completely different matter. I am also sure he didn’t have any bad intention. But now my mind is stuck to new thing which is ‘ofcourse’ as i m person full of waswasas and now this is not going out of my mind. Actually he kept saying ofcourse not’ ( means no bad intention) when i asked him whether he said ofcourse not he got angry and said he didn’t have any bad intention he was only talking about his brother topic. He was angry at me asking him questions on his intention a lot. Its just me having waswasas a lot. Even when he said in the past like I am going to get the car and my mind go stuck to that and i asked so you mean you are just going to get the car etc. to clear my mind. I feel I am insane i doubt on general things. Does usage of just word ‘of course’ matters ( he didn’t have any bad intention and was trying to say ofcourse not) He actually was going to say no or already said no but I didn’t listen or couldn’t let him say the full word. I actually interrupted him by asking again he might had said ofcourse not. When i asked him whether he said ofcourse or ofcourse not he got angry at me on my question and kept saying he was talking about someone else ( he was 100% sure of not having any bad intention while talking about his brother matter) He is determined that he didn’t mean anything bad. I am sure too. Does using only ofcourse word matters if interrupted by me when he was already saying ofcourse not ( meaning no bad intention). He may had said ofcourse not, I didn’t hear ‘not’ as i was talking or he couldn’t say it as i kept asking him. He absolutely had no bad intention even if he said ofcourse as he was already explaining that he did not have any bad intention and kept saying ‘absolutely not’ and “ofcourse not”before saying and after saying “ ofcourse” he said again on my question “ofcourse not”. Its just that I accidentally interrupted him completing full word and may had missed listening one full ofcourse not. I only heard ofcourse and i was talking and then stopped and again asked about whether had had bad intention to which he again said ofcourse not again. He said ofcourse to my question which was either ‘so you didn’t have bad intention’or ‘did you have bad intention’ or ‘ no bad intention right’ but I am sure he wanted to say No to my question as he was already denying having bad intention by saying no no. Does word ‘of course’ matters which might have been interrupted by me ? ( i am Not sure whether he said word not or no i only heard ofcourse as i was talking) but I am sure that he didn’t have bad intention. I vaguely remember when i asked him about whether he said “ofcourse not” he said yes ( means he said ofcourse not to having no bad intention but he got angry with me for my lots of questions)But i am not sure as i kept on talking and didn’t listen properly. Its only on one question i just heard just ofcourse but the rest of the time he kept saying ofcourse not n absolutely not etc. to having no bad intention. I just want to clear my mind. Is nikkah valid? Jazak Allah khair

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Sister in Islam,

Your husband has clearly stated that he was merely discussing his brother’s divorce case. He did not intend divorce nor did he issue a divorce. Therefore, your nikaah is intact.

We advise you not to ponder and build on these thoughts, as you will be aiding the shaytaan in fulfilling his mission. Do not allow the whispers of shaytaan to intimidate you.

Hereunder are some ways to combat the whisperings of Shaytaan:

لا حول ولا قوة الا بالله

There is no power to neither do any good nor prevent any evil except in Allah

My beloved Ustaadh Hadhrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb Hafidhaullah advises:

When you are on a highway filled with smoke that obscures the road, you will not worry to remove the smoke. You will focus on the road and drive through the smoke. You will pay attention on the road and not at the smoke.

The wasaawis are like the smoke. Ignore the wasaawis and work through them even though your work might feel obscured. Do not get caught up with the tricks of Shaytaan.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
