Trimming the side burns and Removing the unibrow Question Detail:
Assalam Walaikum, I have 2 questions: 1) the hair above the beard and below the hair of head ie: the sideburns, can u trim that hair for tazyeen, alhamdulillah my hair and beard is according to shariah, but my sideburns are grow very ugly, is it permissible to cut it? 2) are women allowed to remove unibrow?
Answer :
In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakatu
1) The beard is the hair on the jaw bone. The hair above or below the jaw bone is not considered part of the beard, hence it is permissible to remove it[1].
Accordingly, it is permissible to remove the side burns which are not on the jaw bone.
2) In principle, men and women are not allowed to trim or shave the unibrow. However if the unibrow is unkempt, one may remove the stray strands to neaten it[2].
