Question Summary:
Donating with the intention of Fardh Zakat

Question Detail:

I made intention that i will donate 10% of salary every month in the Path of Allah. Can i now make intention that whatever iam donating every month is including fardh zakath on me. Or do i have to calculate my zakath and pay it seperately. 

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

When discharging Zakat, the intention must be only of Zakat. One cannot make intention of Lillah or Sadaqah when discharging Zakat.

You may fulfill your intention of donating part of your salary as and when you wish according to your financial situation.

(قَوْلُهُ: لَا تَسْقُطُ حِصَّتُهُ) أَيْ لَا تَسْقُطُ زَكَاةُ مَا يَتَصَدَّقُ بِهِ فَتَجِبُ زَكَاتُهُ وَزَكَاةُ الْبَاقِي (قَوْلُهُ: خِلَافًا لِلثَّالِثِ) أَشَارَ بِذَلِكَ تَبَعًا لِمَتْنِ الْمُلْتَقَى إلَى اعْتِمَادِ قَوْلِ أَبِي يُوسُفَ.
