Answer :

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salamu ‘laykum wa-rahmatullahi wa-barakatuh.
Hereunder are the duas to be read before iftaar and after iftaar :
Dua to be read before breaking the fast:

  • باسم الله و بركة الله 1
  • Transliteration: Bismillahi wa barakatillah
Meaning:  In the name of Allah , with the blessing of Allah
Duas to be read after breaking the fast:

  • 2  ذهب الظمأ وابتلت العروق، وثبت الأجر إن شاء الله
  • Transliteration: Zahabadh-dhama'u wabtallatil-'urooqu, wa thabatal-ajru inshaa-Allaahu.
Meaning: The thirst has gone and the veins are quenched, and reward is confirmed, if Allaah wills.

  • 3  اللهم لك صمت، وعلى رزقك أفطرت
  • Transliteration: Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu [wa 'alayka tawakkaltu] wa ‘ala rizq-ika aftarthu

Meaning: O Allah! I Fasted for you and I believe in you and I break my fast with your sustenance.

Duas to be read before or after breaking the fast :

  • 4أللهم إني أسألك برحمتك التي وسعت كل شيء أن تغفر لي

5 The third dua can be read both before or after breaking the fast due it being included in Imam Nawawi’s ‘Al-Azkaar’ 5 among other such duas that are normally read after iftaar, as well there being no clear wording linking it to post iftaar, thus indicating the possibility of both.
