I am a new Muslim and I wanted to know how this statement applies in regard to the attacks against Moulana Saad of Nuzamuddin, India.
The righteous predecessors were fully capable of arguing and winning debates against their opponents, but they refused to do so out of fear and mindfulness of Allah.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
We are unable to comment on the statement in reference as we do not know its context. Statements must be analysed within its context and not in isolation.
We do not agree with attacking Moulana Saad Sahib or any Muslim. Islam prohibits us from humiliating any human being, let aside fellow Muslims.
It should also be pointed out that we are dutybound to preserve the pristine purity of Islam and Shariah. If any person has made erroneous statements in Islam, that should be highlighted and corrected to safeguard the masses from being misled.
Our responsibility is to highlight the wrongs attributed to Moulana Saad Sahib and also make duaa for him.
