Question Detail:

I want to know whether the name “SIMRA” OR “SIMRAH” OR “SAMRA” which is correct and valid according to shariah.Also I want to know which name should be suitable with the name SIMRAN. Is this name ok in shariah.

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh
Nabi (salallāhu ‘alayhiwasallam) said regarding the keeping of good names: “Indeed you shall be called on the day of Qiyaamah with your names and the names of your fathers, so give good names to yourselves”.
 
It is advisable for one to keep names of the Anbiyaa, Sahabah, Taabi’een and pious predecessors.
 
The name “Samra” means “wheat and was also the name of the horse of Safwaan Bin Abi Suhbaan”. It is permissible to keep such a name.
