Is Wudhu Needed to Read Qur’an on Computer?

Question Detail:

I understand that it's compulsory to do wudhu for touching the Qur'an but is it necessary to do so while reading as well - even on the iPad or phones? As I am not physically touching it?

Answer :

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Allah Ta’āla says in the Holy Quran:
لَا يَمَسُّهُ إِلَّا الْمُطَهَّرُونَ
None but the purest touch it (56:79)
It is on the basis of the referred verse, the Fuqahā have mentioned that one should be in the state of wudhu when touching the Quran or anything that has the inscription of the Quran on it.
The Quran in the iPad and phones fall in the same category and it will be necessary for one to be in the state of wudhu when touching that part of the item that has the verse of the Quran displayed on it. [1]
